Accessibility statement

We hope that you're enjoying using the features of the Start4Life website and are not experiencing any problems. However, if you do have difficulty viewing the site, there are some things you can do to make it easier. You can change the settings of your browser to better suit your needs and use specially provided keyboard shortcuts in case you find it hard to use a mouse.

There are a number of keyboard shortcuts, or access keys, to help site users as detailed below.

  • Alt + S Skip navigation
  • Alt + 1 Homepage
  • Alt + 3 Site map
  • Alt + 4 Search
  • Alt + 8 Terms and conditions
  • Alt + 0 Access keys information

The keyboard shortcuts are intended to help users who have difficulty in using a mouse. This website uses the UK Government access key system.

Note: please keep in mind that there can be variations on how to enter the access keys depending on the browser you are using. Firefox, for example, uses the combination Alt + Shift + Number

Windows

Press the 'Alt' key and the relevant access key:

  • If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4, Netscape Navigator version 6 or later, or Mozilla, then press 'Alt' and the relevant number/letter at the same time.
  • If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or later then press 'Alt' and the relevant number/letter, then press the 'Enter' key.

Macintosh

Press the 'Ctrl' key and the relevant access key and the relevant access key:

  • If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4, Netscape version 6 or later, or Mozilla, then press 'Ctrl' and the relevant number/letter at the same time.
  • If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 or a later version then press 'Ctrl' and the relevant number/letter, then press the 'Enter' key.

Supported assistive software

Start4Life conforms to the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0, level AA standards for accessibility and is compatible with most standard assistive software, including the screen readers NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) and JAWS.
