Patients say it’s good to receive support from Derbyshire Healthcare
Patients receiving care from Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have given positive feedback about their experiences, rating the care they received as being amongst the best in the country.
The outcomes of the national community mental health survey were published yesterday by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The survey asked patients for feedback on key areas, such as how their care was organised, planned and reviewed. The Trust scored particularly highly in supporting individuals to build a life beyond illness; for example by taking part in local activities and finding and keeping accommodation. These are key factors in supporting an individual to recover from a mental illness, by providing support to live independently within the community.
The Trust also received feedback that patients feel staff seek to understand what is important to them in their everyday lives and actively provide help to achieve this.
Carolyn Green, Director of Nursing and Patient Experience at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust said: “I am delighted with the outcome of the recent patient survey. Our patients have reported that they are treated with dignity and respect whilst in our services, that they are listened to and helped to make decisions about their treatment and wider issues that affect their mental health.”
Feedback relating to Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust placed the Trust in the ‘best’ or ‘average’ performing categories for Trusts nationally, in each of the 43 areas reviewed.
