A guide to West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust

The Trust manages three hospitals: Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans. It provides general healthcare and some specialist services and has close links with specialist hospitals such as Harefield.

The Trust is proud of its control of hospital acquired infections and is free of infection at its elective centre. With one of the safest maternity services in the country, we remain patient-led, understand patients’ needs and expectations, and have strong partnerships with neighbouring NHS organisations, local authorities and voluntary groups.

We are applying to be a Foundation Trust.

The emergency team is currently enjoying praise from regulators, Trust bosses and local politicians for its impressive turnaround in waiting times for emergency patients. And with money for improvements to withstand the pressures that winter brings, there is a real spring in the step of staff whose roles are among the hardest in the NHS.
