Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the principal provider of acute hospital services for the residents of Burton upon Trent and surrounding areas including South Staffordshire, South Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire. The Trust serves a population of approximately 360,000 people and is committed to delivering high quality patient care.
In 2011, the Trust took over the running of two Community Hospitals, Samuel Johnson Lichfield and Sir Robert Peel Tamworth. It also acquired the Treatment Centre, based on the Queen’s Hospital Burton site, providing day case and ophthalmology services to the immediate area and beyond.
The Trust is strongly placed to provide outreach and community based clinics, all of which are supported by a dedicated team of clinical staff and senior managers. The Trust recognises the importance of working in the community, providing patients with the choice to access services in a setting that may be more amenable or comfortable for them.
At Queen’s Burton there is a full complement of Accident and Emergency, outpatient and direct access services. All specialties are supported by a comprehensive range of clinical services in therapies, pharmacy, pathology, and radiology. We have two MRI Scanners, two CT Scanners, a dedicated endoscopy suite, a breast care unit, stroke facilities and modern maternity units.
The Trust works in partnership with other healthcare providers to offer patients access to more specialist services that are not traditionally provided at a district general hospital, such as renal services or Neurosurgery.
The Trust has a number of operating theatres across each of its sites, We also provide inpatient and outpatient services, surgery and Minor Injuries Units, from our Community Hospital facilities and a midwife-led maternity unit at Samuel Johnson Lichfield. Outreach clinics are also provided in a number of other locations in acute and community settings across a wide range of specialties.
