City Hospitals Sunderland is the leading acute healthcare provider in Sunderland, operating from Sunderland Royal Hospital, Eye Infirmary and the Children's Centre.

The Trust offers a range of services from two main sites within Sunderland, Sunderland Royal Hospital and Sunderland Eye Infirmary. Our most recent additions are a new ward block for medical patients and the Chester Lodge.  Our aim is to treat patients promptly and with care in all hospital settings. We have a number of specialist services and Sunderland Eye Infirmary is the leading regional eye treatment centre, with a recently opened second cataract theatre.

Our vision outlines our commitment to "Excellence in Health, Putting People first". We are committed to high quality, safe and personal care for each patient. Our patients are treated in clean, comfortable surroundings with privacy and dignity.

VISITING HOURS

The visiting hours are outlined below.  Close friends and family members may visit seriously ill patients at any time, following discussion with the nurse in charge.

Adult wards  

2 pm until 4 pm (Ward D46 - 2 pm until 6 pm)           
6 pm until 8 pm (Ward D46 - 7 pm until 8 pm)

If these times are difficult for you, please speak to the nurse in charge. Please do not feel that you have to stay for the whole of this time.

Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Unit

Visiting hours will be discussed on an individual basis.

Children's wards

Parents are invited to stay with the child during the hospital admission.  Other visitors with the parent's permission can visit between 8 am until 8 pm.

Maternity wards

Partners between 10 am and 8 pm.
All other visitors between 2 pm and 4 pm or 6 pm and 8 pm.
